Two Sleeps to Go!

210 keen competitors have entered the NOSH online. If you were one of them you can check the starter list now and find your race bib number here. On Sunday morning, head straight to the Pre-Entry queue to pick up your race bib.

Didn't enter online? No problems, you can register and pay on Sunday morning from 8:30AM at Lindfield Oval. Registration forms will be available or you can get a copy of the form here and fill it in now to save time on the day.

Don't forget to arrive with enough time to get to the start line. It is a ten minute walk down to the trail from the oval and with 400 competitors expected you shouldn't leave it to the last minute. A short race briefing will be given 5 minutes before the race start.

Results: MetrO League 3 - Cattai National Park

It was a cool and foggy morning when we arrived at Cattai National Park on Sunday morning. After a stop at the 'Pay and Display' machine and a dousing of the running shoes with metho (to prevent to spread of Myrtle Rust) we arrived at the event central to be greeted by a nice campground on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. This time on the Cattai South map there were plenty more opportunities to set some easier controls around the campsite and old homestead, yet still have access to some bushy rocky land for the harder courses. Lantana had taken over much of the 'white' in many areas which made the traversing a bit tricky but to some extent it was predictable where it was the thickest and added a challenge to the navigation. Bennelong Northside had a good day, again with lots of blue, green and white in the crowds. We had wins in all but division 3. We were competing against SHOO's top team and our times were all very close, so well done to all  of our runners! Click the pics below for a closer look.

NOSH: Course Alteration

At the request of the National Parks and Wildlife Service we have made an alteration to the NOSH course. At the 8.3km mark rather than turning left and up behind the houses in Killarney Heights, the course now turns right on to the Magazine Track. While we no longer have access to the scrub and sandstone slabs, the Magazine Track has great views over Bantry Bay and passes behind the historic Magazine buildings. The course length has increased to approximately 15.7km. We thank NPWS for their continuing support providing access for the Great NOSH Footrace.

The blue line indicates the old course route. The red line shows the new course route. Course maps on the NOSH webpage have been updated.

Fun Courses and Great Weather at State League 3/4

The Lithgow area put on some great weather for orienteering last weekend, with cool, but not frosty weather and clear skies. Thos that made it our of Sydney were treated to two great events. On Saturday afternoon Falnash State Forest was our sportsground for SL3. The map is largely open runable terrain with a few gullies - gentle at the north end of the map and steeper in the south. many controls were on easy to spot features such as termite mounds and native cherry trees (once you knew what one looked like) and some less distinctive features like shallow gullies. 12 Bennelongers rocked up for the event with some great results. The Lithgow Workers club provided sustenance and a warm venue for all the orienteers to gather on Saturday night and mull over their maps.

Results: SL3 Bargo Bushies' Bash

Final Results, Splits and Routegadget for State League 3 are now online. Check out the results page for the links.

Routegadget allows you to click the course you took onto the map and then play back your run to compare your course and pace with the other runners in your class. You can also learn from the elites by seeing how they made their way through or around the obstacles between controls. Why not give it a go and put your course in! (Just don't laugh at my rather indirect route choices please!)

If you have any photos of the event that we can share on our facebook page please send them in!
